adityanam aham visnur jyotisam ravir amsuman
maricir marutam asmi naksatranam aham sasi (BG 10.21)
Of the Adityas I am Visnu, of lights I am the radiant sun, I am Marici of the Maruts, and among the stars I am the moon.
There are twelve Adityas, of which Krishna is the principal. And among all the luminaries twinkling in the sky, the sun is the chief, and in the Brahma-Samhita the sun is accepted as the glowing effulgence of the Supreme Lord and is considered to be one of His eyes
eka eva hi lokānām sūrya ātmādikṛd hariḥ।
sarva veda kriyā mūlam ṛṣibhirbahudhoditaḥ॥ (Aditya Hrudayam, Uttarakanda, Ramayana)
The Sun God, a manifestation of Lord Hari, is the one Soul of everyone in this world. He is the source of all Vedic activities, and is praised variously by several Rishis (like, here, Rishi Agastya).
The Aditya Hrudayam was recited by Sage Agastya to Lord Sri Ram before the war with Ravana.
Lets chant the Holy Name of this very effulgent personality and pray that He open His eyes to look at us and guide us in this devotional path.
